The 31-year-old's future has been the subject of intense speculation already this close-season, with reports suggesting that Tottenham are among those interested in trying to tempt him away from the Camp Nou.

However, the Spain international has made it clear that for now his focus is on his international duties, ahead of his country's upcoming FIFA Confederations Cup campaign - which begins against Uruguay on June 16.

"I have a contract and I have always said that I'm very happy in Barcelona," he said.

"Throughout my career I have always been respectful of my current club. Right now I'm just thinking about doing a good job in Brazil (at the Confederations Cup) and then we will see.

"We will have to analyse many things during the summer, but as of right now I'm not thinking of anything else other than playing football for Spain."

Villa netted 10 goals in 28 league games for the Liga champions last season, marking a return to form after a serious leg injury blighted his 2012-13 campaign.

Arsenal were thought to have chased his signature during the January transfer window, but it is now believed that their north London rivals Tottenham are among the leading contenders to sign him should he opt to leave Barca.
