Andre Villas-Boas has hit back at Wojciech Szczesny over his claims that Tottenham lack the "quality" to finish in the top four.
The Arsenal goalkeeper made the comments in an interview with the club's official website this week, despite his side leading Spurs by just two points in the Premier League having played a game more.
And, speaking ahead of Wednesday's crucial clash with Chelsea, Villas-Boas has questioned the credibility of the Pole's words.
"It would have been a bit more tolerable if it had come from a genuine Arsenal fan," he said.
"Coming from an Arsenal player, he's a player who is probably passing by to another club or who is not going to stay there for life.
"An Arsenal player just arrived in that club for the last couple of years is entitled to so much hatred towards Tottenham like he seems to have."
Arsenal's fate in their bid for UEFA Champions League qualification will be out of their hands should Tottenham beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
