Liverpool staff arrive in the Victorian capital today, part of around 100 support staff due in from the UK and Boston, as the city gears up for the Reds' first Australian visit.

Jones, an ambassador for Liverpool's kit makers Warrior, is due to arrive next Monday.

Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, there’s speculation the movie star and former EPL footballer may take part in a special event at Melbourne’s Crown Casino next Monday night.

“Celebrate Liverpool FC Downunder” is the theme and features Australia’s Liverpool legend Craig Johnston.

The evening will also feature a number of former NSL stars coming together to celebrate a special few days in the southern capital.

"The night is a celebration of Liverpool and football," Liverpool tour promoter Lou Sticca told au.fourfourtwo.com.

“It will be another way the fans can celebrate what is a special time in this city with Liverpool playing their first ever game in Australia at the iconic MCG.”

A number of other events will be happening around town leading up to next Wednesday night’s clash at the MCG against Melbourne Victory.

“The night is about bringing together our football community, celebrating the game we love and the incredible supporters who will make this game so special,” added Sticca.

The “Celebrate Liverpool FC Downunder” night at Co at Crown Casino in Melbourne will also feature the Bootleg Beatles, one of the world’s best Beatles tribue bands.
