Fiorentina insist Adrian Mutu will remain at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, despite reports that the striker is on the verge of sealing a move to Roma.
Both Serie A clubs admitted on Wednesday that an offer had been made by the capital club for Mutu.
But amid reports that a switch is imminent, the Viola claim the 29-year-old, who said last week he wanted to end his career in Florence, is not for sale.
A brief statement on the Fiorentina website, www.violachannel.tv, read: "Fiorentina president, Andrea della Valle, in reference to Roma's offer, announces that, for the Viola, Adrian Mutu is and remains a Fiorentina player."
Mutu, who was Fiorentina's top scorer last season and is under contract until the end of the 2010/11 campaign, requested a pay rise earlier in the summer.
The Romania striker enjoyed a spectacular season last campaign, displaying the kind of form that saw him added to several clubs' wish-lists.
But earlier this month Mutu's agent claimed the club had offered an improved contract and insisted the forward would sign a new deal on his return from holiday.
Mutu, who has also had spells with Parma, Juventus and Chelsea, has scored 33 goals in 62 appearances for Fiorentina.
