NEWCASTLE Jets prospect James Virgili may have returned home after his trial with Celtic without a contract but a move to Glasgow hasn't been ruled out just yet.
The 17-year-old left-winger, who is the youngest player to ever make an A-League appearance, recently enjoyed a two-week stint with the Glasgow club.
Virgili, who missed out on the Young Socceroos squad which travelled to South America today due to a groin injury, failed to win an immediate deal with Celtic's under-19 side but there's still hope for the youngster.
"There is a possibility in the summer they will look at me again when some changes are meant to happen at the club," Virgili told the Newcastle Herald.
It is understood Celtic will monitor Virgili's progress and keep him on their watchlist.
The teenager, whose father coaches local club Broadmeadow Magic, believes his experience in Scotland confirmed in him his determination to become a professional footballer.
He added: "Going there made me think how much more I wanted to become a footballer.
"It was a great experience and the whole environment was so professional. Training was intense."
