Melbourne City defender Ivan Franjic has been ruled out for an indefinite period after suffering a virus during pre-season.
FourFourTwo first broke the story of a serious setback to the Socceroo's pre-season program almost two weeks ago.
At the time he had lost several kilograms and missed City's 2-1 FFA Cup win at Floreat Athena in Perth.
The virus has caused inflammation in the area surrounding his heart forcing him to stop training.
The 28-year-old is currently under the care and assessment of a specialist cardiologist who has advised that he will make a full recovery.
City's defensive ranks have already undergone a shake-up with former skipper, Patrick Kisnorbo, retiring and Socceroo Alex Wilkinson signing with Sydney FC.
