The new A-League champions flew back on Sunday afternoon after winning the A-League Grand Final against Melbourne Victory on Saturday night and headed straight to the Domain to be met by a throng of waiting fans.

When the double-winning coach was introduced on stage along with the rest of the squad, the sky blue fans began chanting "Thank You, Thank You" to the Czech boss. This was followed by a version of the chant in his native tongue of Czech.

A visibly emotional Lavicka was forced to wipe away the tears as he acknowledged the fans' support as players and supporters alike lapped up an historic A-League double under the former Sparta Prague manager.

"It is a fantastic, amazing moment for me personally and all of us.  Yes, I was emotional, I had in my eye how you say drops [tears]," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

The entire coaching and support staff were lauded along with the playing group at Sunday's celebration. Club owner David Traktovenko also made a special appearance.

As for next season and the A-League title defence, Lavicka said it was hard to say at this early stage.

"It's difficult to make the success we've had, but it's more difficult to maintain that success," he said. "But now is a time for celebration, and we'll see about that after."

The Sydney fans used the celebration to sing the praises of departing goalkeeper Clint Bolton and Karol Kisel, with the fans advocating the club's hierarchy to hold onto midfielder.

The Slovak is set to be squeezed out of Sydney's title defence due to budget constraints and return to his homeland for next season.

Stand-in Sydney captain Terry McFlynn spoke passionately about the squad's goal-setting this season which included qualifying for the Asian Champions League.

He also said that the squad's younger players need to bide their time before getting the chance to become heroes at a club he described as the best in the country.

And he added that being captain in place of his good friend - the recently retired Steve Corica - was a huge honour.
