BOLOGNA have completed the signing of Italian midfielder Sergio Volpi on a free transfer.
The experienced 34-year-old left Sampdoria on June 10 following the expiry of his contract.
He joins a Bologna side recently promoted back to the top flight of Italian football after they finished second in Serie B last season.
Upon being officially presented at the club, Volpi told reporters that he chose to join the club as he believed they were an ambitious side.
"It's an important side that I believe wants to get back to being one of the big sides in Italian football," he said.
"The important thing is that there is an serious project in place here, with clear objectives and a will to do well."
