The bottom-placed hosts are in desperate need of three points to give their survival hopes a much-needed boost after the discouraging 3-0 thrashing at Stuttgart saw the gap to 15th-placed Arminia Bielefeld grow to five points.

"We have not had much time since the match but I hope the players are over it," Von Heesen said.

"We can't continue like that. We need to find the right mentality and we will give all we can to win the three points."

Eight days ago, the first meeting with Wolfsburg was abandoned after half-time due to bad weather conditions, with Nurnberg holding a 1-0 lead.

But with two home matches coming up in six days, Greece striker Angelos Charisteas claims not all is lost.

"We need to beat Wolfsburg and Bielefeld," he said. "Otherwise we won't have a chance at all."

Zvejzdan Misimovic and Ivan Saenko both pulled out of training this week due to groin problems but are expected to play. Jaromir Blazek (abdomen), Dominik Reinhardt (thigh), Glauber (groin) and Peer Kluge (back) are all unavailable for selection.

Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath is optimistic his team will take three points from their return trip to Nurnberg.

"Until the game was stopped we were the better team and had the chance to win," he said.

"Now we have the chance to win again and want to make the most of it. We want to put them under pressure from the first whistle on."

Grafite and Ashkan Dejagah are both missing for the visitors through suspension, but Danijel Ljuboja returns from a thigh injury.
