Melbourne Knights 2 (Josip Kozic (2))
Victorian Training Centre 3
(Luke O’Dea (2), David Stirton)
@ Knights Stadium

VICTORIAN Training Centre’s topsy-turvy form continued after a surprise 3-2 win over Melbourne Knights.

The youngsters have produced a run of win-loss games and a double from Luke O’Dea gave them victory at Knights Stadium.

O’Dea scored after David Stirton gave VTC an early lead and the home side was two goals down inside 11 minutes.

But first half substitute Josip Kozic pulled two goals back for the hosts and they were level, albeit for barely seven minutes.

O’Dea’s late header gave VTC the points in a game Knights would have been expecting to win, missing a huge chance to enter the weekend in the top five.

Stirton has produced on a consistent basis for the young team, who were led by Boris Seroshtan after Mehmet Durakovic took over the Victory first team following Ernie Merrick’s departure.

Oakleigh Cannons 1 (Ricky Diaco)
South Melbourne 2
(Marinos Gasparis, Steven O’Dor)
@ Jack Edwards Reserve

SOUTH Melbourne inflicted Oakleigh’s first loss of the season with a 2-1 win at Jack Edwards Reserve.

New signing Ljubo Milicevic made his debut as South ensured their solid start to the season continued.

Marinos Gasparis opened the scoring with a volley early on before Oakleigh’s Ricky Diaco equalized with a free kick.

But after taking the lead early in the second half courtesy of a header from defender Steven O’Dor, the visitors held on to ensure they would be in third at the end of round five.

Oakleigh failed their first real test of the season but will have a chance to redeem themselves with a trip to Heidelberg in round six.

Dandenong Thunder 0
Heidelberg United 0

@ George Andrews Reserve

DANDENONG Thunder moved to the top of the league table after playing out the season’s first scoreless draw at home to Heidelberg United.

Neither side could find a breakthrough but a point was enough for Thunder to go top after Oakleigh lost to South Melbourne on Friday night.

United will host the Cannons in round five while Thunder will look to continue their current form with a trip to Northcote.

The challenge has been set for the Bergers who were stripped of three points following charges stemming from their round three loss at Hume City.

Richmond 2
(Jason Hoffman (2))
Green Gully Cavaliers 1
(Cameron Drake)
@ Kevin Bartlett Reserve

RICHMOND moved off the bottom of the league table courtesy of a surprise 2-1 win over Green Gully.

A brace from on-loan Melbourne Heart winger Jason Hoffman set up the Eagles’ win as reigning champions Gully continue to struggle.

Hoffman opened the scoring in the 17th minute and doubled the advantage moments into the second half.

Although Cameron Drake pulled one back with his second goal in as many weeks, the Eagles hung on for the win.

The Cavaliers have only won one of their first five games and that was against now bottom-placed St Albans.

Hume City 2 (Steven Weir, Alfonso Opazo)
Northcote City 1
(Nicholas Curtis)
@ Broadmeadows Valley Park

HUME City continued on their merry way with a come from behind 2-1 win over Northcote City.

The visitors made a brilliant start thanks to Nicholas Curtis, who applied the simplest of finishes to a cross from Trent Rixon.

But Steven Weir struck from the penalty spot before Alfonso Opazo headed home a cross from Zoran Petrevski to give the hosts the points in the second half.

Northcote fell out of the top five and sit in sixth, one point behind the fifth-placed Hume.

St Albans Saints 3
(Alan Paleka, Goran Jozeljic, Josip Loncaric)
Springvale White Eagles 3
(Goran Zoric, Zoran Vukas, Rados Tomic)
@ Churchill Reserve

ST Albans Saints and Springvale White Eagles both remain winless after playing out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Churchill Reserve.

The Saints looked to have the points sealed before substitute Rados Tomic struck with a late equalizer.

The White Eagles made the perfect start when Goran Zoric tapped in after striker Milos Lujic headed into the crossbar.

Their lead lasted barely eight minutes as Alan Paleka headed home a whipping cross from Daniel Visevic.

Zoran Vukas restored the lead for Springvale when he finished from the penalty spot, before Goran Jozeljic placed home a smart equalizer.

When Josip Loncaric rounded Scott Agustin and put the Saints 3-2 up in the 65th minute, the game looked all but over.

Loncaric had a chance to seal the game from the penalty spot but Agustin saved and the striker blazed the rebound well over.

Tomic popped up to slide home a cross from Zoric to have Springvale leave with an unlikely point.

Both remain winless and need to find a win soon or they will lose touch with the others.

Melbourne Knights 4
(Yusuf Yusuf (2), Daniel Dragicevic, Anthony Colosimo)
Bentleigh Greens 0

@ Knights Stadium

MELBOURNE Knights romped to a 4-0 win over Bentleigh Greens to move into the top five for the first time this season.
