JURICA Vranjes has taken a parting shot at Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf as he left the club to join Genclerbirligi today.
The 29-year-old will join the Turkish club on loan until the end of the season upon the successful completion of a medical, but there would appear to be no way back after he criticised Schaaf heavily in a newspaper interview.
"As a psychologist, he is a catastrophe and on a human level, he is the biggest disappointment of my life," said the Croatian midfielder.
Vranjes has spent the entire season on the sidelines since Schaaf has only rarely considered him for his matchday squad.
This, according to the midfielder, has "done me in and ruined my mind".
"I had no desire to remain here and only train," he added in the Syker Kreiszeitung newspaper.
"To say I have been training badly is just an alibi. If we were judged by our performances in training then 70 to 80% would not be playing.
"For three and a half years, I have been a model professional and then I am suddenly kicked out."
Vranjes did have one compliment to pay Schaaf, though, admitting he had been "the best coach I have ever had on a sporting level", but his interpersonal skills still leave a lot to be desired.
"Our relationship was destroyed," added Vranjes. "He just does his own thing and is never prepared to admit to making an error."
Vranjes has spent the last four and a half years with Bremen, winning the DFB-Pokal with them last season and playing a total of 90 times.
