Socceroos coach Bert van Marwijk has hinted at changes following Saturday morning’s 4-1 loss to Norway ahead of Wednesday morning’s friendly against Colombia in London.

Vukovic is set to make his debut, having first been called up for a 2007 Asian Cup qualifier against Kuwait in August 2006.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has had a nomadic career since that call-up, spending time with eight different clubs across five different countries.

“Very excited,” Vukovic said. “It’s something I’ve wanted my whole career.

“My first Socceroos camp was 12 years ago. It’s taken that long to maybe get my chance now.

“Still nothing is certain. I know for a fact with my career and the things that have happened that nothing is ever certain.

“I’m working hard along with the other goalkeepers to be the best that I can be. I’ll be ready on Tuesday night if called upon.”

Vukovic also said the national team needed time to find their groove under new boss Bert van Marwijk.

“It’s a work in progress,” he said. “It’s a total different way of playing to what we’re used to.

“When you change things it takes time. Hopefully we can improve on our performance in the next game.”
