The club announced his new contract extension in Perth today,  and the 28-year-old former Central Coast Mariner said Glory’s new direction under coach Alistair Edwards was a big factor in inking the long-term deal.

"I feel that the club is moving in a very exciting direction and one that I want to be a part of,” he said.

“With Alistair and Gareth (Naven) and Scott (Miller) on board, it's a really exciting time to be a part of this great club.

“I also think I've come to a point in my career where I needed some security. I've just recently got married and we want to start a family so that was a major factor as well.”

The big Sydneysider is a popular figure with the club’s fans – and the feeling’s mutual.

“One thing that I'm very lucky to have is a great relationship with the supporters," he said. "They seem to appreciate the way that I go about my business and I really appreciate their support for me. 

“They create a great atmosphere for us out there and it's a great honour that they sing a song specifically for me. It gives me a massive lift and really pumps me up.”

These are exciting times for the WA club. An attractive, possession-based game has already reaped rewards.

A late surge into last season’s finals after Edwards took over from Ian Ferguson caught the imagination.

And with new signing Ljubo Milicevic, the backline has a stronger feel to it this season, while rising star Daniel de Silva is one to watch in the midfield.

The bigger picture for Vukovic is the Socceroos. He concedes it’s a tough gig to get into the squad given the talent available. But after the Schwarzer era ends next year, competition will be keen for spots in the squad.

 “I was very close at one point in my career and sat on the bench three times without ever getting onto the field as a full Socceroo,” he said.

“Playing in the A-League, if you do well, you're right in front of the eyes of the national team selectors and the coach, so I'll never give up hope. 

“I'm happy concentrating on Glory at the moment and if things go well for me here, anything else if a bonus.”

Meanwhile, fans can see Glory in action tomorrow night when they take on Stirling Lions at Macedonia Park. They currently lead the All Flags State League Premier Division, and with several former Glory players in their ranks, will be out to impress in this friendly clash.
