Socceroos goalkeeper Danny Vukovic admits he was disappointed to be jeered by his own supporters after winning Genk’s fan-voted Golden Shoe award.
Vukovic was presented with the award for Genk’s Player of the Season at their final home game, Sunday’s 4-1 win over Charleroi.
However, the announcement was greeted with whistles and jeers from home supporters who weren’t unanimous in their support of Vukovic.
"I am very grateful for this award,” Vukovic said. "It was unexpected, I was a bit surprised."
He added: "Maybe not all fans agreed, I heard the whistles.
Honoured to receive this seasons golden shoe for KRC Genk. Thank you to those who voted for me. Always a privilege to wear the Genk shirt and represent this great club!! pic.twitter.com/ZIB7QlM8fI

"That is a pity, of course, but I always give 100 per cent for this club.
"It was not my best season, I made some mistakes, but I also played some good matches, I know I can do better."
Vukovic has made 43 appearances in all competitions for Genk this season, following his move from Sydney FC last year.
