Vukovic brought back shades of his A-League Grand Final heroics when he denied Marco Rojas in Sydney FC's shootout win over Melbourne Victory.

The shot-stopper saved Mechelen’s third spotkick from Andy Kawaya in the shootout as Genk progressed 5-4 on penalties after the sides finished 1-1 after 120 minutes.

The Australian goalkeeper had performed well throughout the 120 minutes of play, making a number of good saves, before his shootout heroics.

Vukovic has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season as Genk’s first choice since his move from Sydney FC.

Elsewhere, Aaron Mooy started and played 74 minutes as Huddersfield were crushed 5-0 by Arsenal in the English Premier League.

Tom Rogic was called on as an 11th minute substitute after an early injury and hit the post late on as Celtic drew 1-1 with Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League.

Australian midfielder Andy Rose was a 46th minute sub for Motherwell but committed the foul for the penalty which led to Scott Sinclair’s equaliser.

Tomi Juric played a full game as Luzern lost 2-1 to Basel in the Swiss Cup quarter-finals.
