SYDNEY FC youth coach Steve Corica today helped launch the Volkswagen Junior Masters football tournament set to take place later this year.
Volkswagen is calling for Under 12 boys’ club teams nationwide to register to play at the Junior Masters Australia which will be held in Sydney from 1-2 October 2011.
The tournament was launched in Germany in 1999 and now features national tournaments in 20 countries around the globe with over 850 teams taking part. The winners of the 2011 Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia will qualify for an all expenses paid trip to represent Australia at the Volkswagen World Junior Masters 2012 to be played in Warsaw, Poland ahead of Euro 2012
“With football the fastest growing sport at a grassroots level, the Volkswagen Junior Masters is a fantastic opportunity for our next generation of football stars and for the future of the sport in Australia,” said Corica. “The competition will look to recognise good sportsmanship both on and off the field.
“I am honoured to be associated with such an inspiring initiative as an Ambassador for Volkswagen Junior Masters Australia, and I look forward to following the journey of the teams as they compete to represent Australia at the Junior World Masters 2012.”
