EXCLUSIVE: The W-League is the place for goals, hitting the century mark two rounds before the finals, says ABC's W-League presenter Liz Deep-Jones.
A total of 106 goals have been scored so far with some impressive new strike talent coming to the attention of fans.
"It's very difficult to single out just one outstanding player as there has been so many bright sparks making an impact on the women's game," Deep-Jones told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"The W League has unveiled some exciting talent such as Sydney FC striker and current top goal scorer Leena Khamis, Canberra's Ashley Sykes and Mariners midfield stalwart Trudy Camilleri and forward Jenna Kingsley while Adelaide's goal keeper Emma Wirkus has been outstanding.
"And you can't help but notice the national team players who unleash their quality on the pitch including Perth's explosive forward Lisa De Vanna, Central Coast's exciting talent Kyah Simon."
Only one win separates second and sixth place on the ladder going into this weekend's pre-Christmas round of matches.
"The league has been extremely competitive and entertaining as the teams play an attacking style of football," she added.
"It's very exciting on the sidelines as I get a chance to be close to the action where the theatre unfolds and you get a sense of the tension, drama and sheer determination of the players fighting for a win
"It's women's football at its best and not to be missed."
Deep-Jones will be on board for ABC-TV's live and exclusive coverage of the W-League match between fifth-placed Sydney FC and second-top Newcastle Jets.
Deep-Jones, a former SBS TV presenter, has also been busy promoting her new book Lucy Zeezou's Goal (www.lucyzeezou.com).
The book, about a young girl with dreams of becoming a football superstar, has sold strongly since its September release.
Lucy Zeezou's Goal retails for $17.95 and is sold at all good bookstores including Dymocks, Anguson & Robertson, Big W, Borders and Lesley McKay.
"If FourFourTwo readers want to buy a great gift for kids at Christmas," suggested Deep-Jones, "it's well priced and easy to find at most good book stores."
