Gary Speed's side will face the Socceroos at Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday, August 10 as the manager looks to follow up his first win in charge against Northern Ireland with another positive result.

The FAW have also confirmed the dates and venues for Wales' last two home games in their Euro 2012 Group G campaign.

Montenegro will be the visitors to Cardiff City Stadium on September 2 while Switzerland will be the opponents at Swansea's Liberty Stadium on Friday, October 7.

An FAW statement read: "The Football Association of Wales can confirm that Wales will play a friendly international against Australia on Wednesday, August the 10th.

"The venue will be the Cardiff City Stadium and kick off will be at 7.45 pm.

"This will be the first of two international fixtures at the stadium in the space of three weeks with Wales set to face Montenegro in Cardiff on Friday, September 2.

"The FAW can also confirm that the final home fixture in the qualifying campaign against Switzerland will be at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea on Friday, October 7."

Wales also have to travel to face England and Bulgaria in Group G but have no chance of qualifying for the finals in Poland and Ukraine after losing their first four matches.
