Wanyama, 21, is in demand after a breakout season for Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.

The Kenyan made 49 appearances for Celtic in all competitions last season, scoring nine goals, and is widely tipped to join an English Premier League side.

But it does not look like the combative midfielder will be joining Southampton, after he revealed that he did not feel the club's offer was right.

Wanyama – who also wants Celtic to feel reimbursed for his likely sale – told the Southern Daily Echo: "While the bid was okay for Celtic, the terms were not right for myself and my agent.

"I am open to what offers are made, but I am relaxed and it's important that Celtic are happy too."
