It was reported by Football Tribe this morning that Waring could be competing for a spot with Cerezo during the World Cup break.

Waring is half Japanese through his mother and had experience as a child with J.League 2 side Avispa Fukuoka when he resided in Nippon.

The 19-year-old played two senior games for Victory this season, his only domestic appearance came in the final four minutes of Victory’s 3-0 win over Adelaide United in February.

Waring was also in the starting XI in their dead rubber Asian Champions League (ACL) clash against Shanghai SIPG and managed to get himself on the scoresheet.

Waring signed his first professional contract with Victory before the season and due to his dual-nationality, he could be signed as a domestic player by Cerezo this year.

Japan allows dual-nationality players to be regarded as domestic until 22-years-old, by which point they must renounce one nationality.

Cerezo currently sit fifth in the J.League and take on Sanfrecce Hiroshima away on Sunday.
