The 49,000 capacity stadium was filled to the brim with the City Government having to close the stadium to more than 10,000 fans outside the stadium.
Club president, Daniel Angelici told Argentine Sports channel TySports: "There were a lot of fans out there, we have exceeded ourselves and they have closed the stadium.
"It was because of the excess of people on the stairs, which are emergency exits, and on the access to the North and South stands.
"There were more people than were allowed."
