Arguably the highlight of the night, though, was the wild post-game celebrations in the changerooms of the victors, which has now become an FFA Cup tradition.

Avondale 4 (Sheppard 2', Katebian 54', Boland 72' pen, Christodoulou 86') Marconi Stallions 1 (Andrew 5'), ABD Stadium, Melbourne

Both sides traded goals inside the opening five minutes, before former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory man Joey Katebian rifled in a superb strike 10 minutes after half-time.

Liam Boland converted a 72nd minute penalty and Evan Christodoulou added another late on to seal a big win.

Gwelup Croatia 0 Adelaide Comets 4 (Briscoe 5', Carter 44', Andijanto 55', Welsh 86' pen), Dorrien Gardens, Perth

The South Australian club pulled apart the West Aussies with an emphatic win from start to finish in the late kick-off.

Port Melbourne 0 APIA Leichhardt Tigers 1 (Sekiya 45'), JL Murphy Reserve, Melbourne

Japanese import Tasuku Sekiya netted the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time, squeezing a shot under Port Melbourne keeper Matthew Symes from a tight angle.

Queensland Lions 3 (Simic 9', Macuace 16', Glockner 87') Olympic FC 2 (Nazary 62, Lofthouse 81'), Lions Stadium, Brisbane

The Lions raced to an early 2-0 lead but Olympic pegged them back with two goals inside the final half hour.

However, the hosts would prevail when Jheison Macuace broken in behind the defence and squared for Carter Glockner to tap in a dramatic winner.

Canberra FC 1 (James 12') Broadmeadow Magic 4 (Bradbury 22', Majurovski 41', 47', Fajkovic 78'), Deakin Stadium, Canberra

The Northern NSW club progressed but only after the hosts had gone ahead through a Tom James curler on 12 minutes.

John Majurovski was the hero for Magic, playing the pass to set up Kale Bradbury's equaliser before netting a double himself either side of the break. Dino Fajkovic rounded out the scoring.

Canberra's Ian Graham had a late penalty saved before hitting his rebound into the crossbar too.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles 2 (Avery 19', Kadric 80') 2 Hakoah Sydney City East 1 (Stamatellis 90' pen), Bonnyrigg Sports Ground, Sydney

Aaron Avery netted from range early while Asmir Kadric scored a spectacular 80th minute right-foot volley to seal the win for Bonnyrigg. The visitors got a late consolation from the spot.
