Watson, who was released by Newcastle at the end of the 2015-16 A-League campaign, has joined the current Indian champions on a one-year deal.

The 29-year old arrived in Bengaluru last week.

“I’m very excited,” he told FourFourTwo.

“I’m looking forward training and then playing. We’ve got an AFC Cup game coming up in September so it’s something to look forward to.”

The new I-League does not officially start until January. Watson, who spent four years at Adelaide United, had no hard feelings about his departure from the Jets.

“I’m more excited about the new challenge,” he said.

“You can't look back and be disappointed, it's football and you just move on.”

Watson researched the I-League club before his move and said he is not thinking about an A-League return in 12 months time.

“I have spoken to Sean Rooney and Arthur Pappas, both had great things to say,” he said.

“I Haven't thought that far ahead to be honest. I’m just concentrating on training and playing well for Bengaluru. We’ve got an important AFC quarter-final game coming up in September which is really exciting.”

The Blues take on Singaporean side Tampines Rovers next month over two legs in the AFC
Cup quarter-finals.

Watson said he is ready to embrace all the on field and off-field aspects of life in India.

“The lifestyle and culture will be different but it's something that not many people get to experience and it's something I look forward to,” he said.
