Goals from Timur Kapadze and Maksim Shatskikh put the home side in control before a penalty from Server Djeparov completed a comfortable win for the Uzbeks in their World Cup qualifier in Tashkent.

Dos Anjos was not too downhearted by the result as he felt it came against a strong side.

"We lost tonight because Uzbekistan played better than us," said the Brazilian.

"I'm not thinking about resigning because this is part of my job and they could sack me on any day.

"It is not a shameful result because every team could lose by a big score and Uzbekistan deserved their win today."

Uzbekistan coach Rauf Inileyev was pleased that his attacking approach had paid dividends.

"Yesterday I said that I would use three strikers and I did," Inileyev said.

"Even if you consider Timur Kapadze and Victor Karpenko to be midfielders, we used them as forwards and it worked."
