The Socceroos went down 1-0 to Jordan on Sunday, despite having more shots and most of the possession.

The green and gold play Palestine on Friday and the Dutchman believes the Socceroos have to move on quickly.

"It’s disappointing to start with a loss," he told socceroos.com.au. "If you look at it, we dominated the game. In the second half we were far more positive, we created far more chances.

"We were unlucky not to get at least a point, and if we scored the equaliser I think we would have probably got the second one as well.

"For us now it is not to dwell on this. Obviously it’s a disappointment for players and staff, but we’re very confident to bounce back from this for sure."

Jordan effectively parked the bus on Sunday night, playing on the counter, and Meulensteen is expected the same in the next Group B matches against Palestine and Syria.

"We’re expecting the same thing against Palestine and Syria – a very defensive set-up," the 54-year-old said. "It’s a challenge that we have to overcome. We’re going to have a lot of the ball.

"The most important thing for us is to use that well, to be patient, to keep the speed of play and eventually open them up and be clinical when the chances present themselves."

Meulensteen insists the mood in the Australian camp is still good despite the upset loss.

"That's football, that's sport," he said. "We've got a clear vision of what we want, and that's not going to change.

"We've had a fantastic, positive environment and that positive environment will see us through the next couple of games."
