The slightly-built striker signed farewell cards for Terry Butcher, Branko Culina and John Kosmina as they were quickly ushered out of the Sky Blues' well-oiled back door.

And Brosque needs no reminding what dangers embattled Brisbane Roar will present at the SFS on Sunday night.

It will be new coach Ange Postecoglou's first match in charge of the Roar, coming just 11 days after Frank Farina was sacked following a drink-driving charge.

"At Sydney we've been through a coaching change two or three times," Brosque said today. "If anything good is to come out of it, it does bring the boys closer together.

"Every time a coach took over our club we tended to go on a good run and finished the season well. If you look through history, most clubs that change managers tend to win that first game."

It's that chance of a fresh start under a new boss that reinvigorates the players, according to Brosque.

Players previously on the outer suddenly sense a shot at redemption and the incumbents know previous form counts for little with a fresh set of eyes watching.

"I'm not sure what's been happening up in Brisbane but under a new manager the boys will rally together and try to prove to the coach that they should be part of his plans," Brosque said.

"Going into this game the players will have a lot to prove because a new coach has come in and they'll want to be in his starting side.

"They will be dangerous and we've got to be ready for it. It's going to be a tough match."

Sydney are coming off a shock last-up loss to 10-man Adelaide United, a defeat that ended a promising four-game winning streak.

Brosque added: "We took Adelaide lightly, especially when they went down to 10 men, 10 minutes into the game.

"It was a good wake-up call for us. Just because we'd played well in previous weeks doesn't guarantee it will keep going the same way.

"(Captain) Steve Corica and the rest of the senior boys got all the senior players together and told us the best way to overcome a loss like that is to make sure you get the three points next week.

"We're still hurting but training's been intense and everyone just wants to make amends for last week."
