Adelaide offer Messi 'house in Magill' in bid to sign Barcelona star

Adelaide United have launched an audacious, very tongue-in-cheek offer to bring wantaway Barcelona star Lionel Messi to the A-League.

“I would like to thank Melbourne Victory for the way they welcomed me and my family,” Basha said.

“I have really enjoyed my time living in Melbourne, but I have made the decision to go back to Europe. This is the best solution for me and my family moving forward.

“Finally, I would like to wish the players and the club all the best for next season.”

Victory acknowledged the midfielder's substantial role at the club in the midst of a difficult season on and off the pitch, in which Basha played for three different coaches in quick succession.

“We understand why Migjen has decided to return to Europe, and we thank him for his time at Victory this season,” Victory GM, Drew Sherman said.

“It’s been an extremely challenging season for the team, the reasons have been well documented, but Migjen has been extremely professional throughout.

“On behalf of everyone at Melbourne Victory we wish Migjen and his family all the best for the next chapter of his career.”
