Adelaide offer Messi 'house in Magill' in bid to sign Barcelona star

Adelaide United have launched an audacious, very tongue-in-cheek offer to bring wantaway Barcelona star Lionel Messi to the A-League.

โ€œI would like to thank Melbourne Victory for the way they welcomed me and my family,โ€ Basha said.

โ€œI have really enjoyed my time living in Melbourne, but I have made the decision to go back to Europe. This is the best solution for me and my family moving forward.

โ€œFinally, I would like to wish the players and the club all the best for next season.โ€

Victory acknowledged the midfielder's substantial role at the club in the midst of a difficult season on and off the pitch, in which Basha played for three different coaches in quick succession.

โ€œWe understand why Migjen has decided to return to Europe, and we thank him for his time at Victory this season,โ€ Victory GM, Drew Sherman said.

โ€œItโ€™s been an extremely challenging season for the team, the reasons have been well documented, but Migjen has been extremely professional throughout.

โ€œOn behalf of everyone at Melbourne Victory we wish Migjen and his family all the best for the next chapter of his career.โ€
