Former Socceroos World Cup coach, Rale Rasic, says Australia must produce more players like 19-year-old wonderkid Daniel Arzani.
In a campaign that saw Australia exit the 2018 World Cup with just a point, Arzani's skilful display for the Socceroos at Russia was one of the most pleasing and positve aspects of the tournament.
The teenager played limited minutes during his three World Cup games against France, Denmark and Peru but he had many Australian fans and commentators buzzing about his performances.
His 20 minute cameo against Denmark was his best outing, proving that the youngster has the ability to cut it on the world’s biggest stage.
It’s given supporters of the Socceroos hopes that Arzani has the potential to develop into a future talent.
But Rasic isn’t satisfied and feels Australian football isn't producing enough players as talented as the Melbourne City teenager.

“We are talking about Arzani but we were talking about 20 players like this in the past,” he told FourFourTwo.
Rasic pointed to the Golden Generation as an example of how Australian football's production line has stalled.
“The name on everyone’s lips is Arzani," he said.
"But we are not talking about Ned Zelic, Paul Okon, Stan Lazaridis, Scott Chipperfield, Lucas Neil and Tony Popovic.
"Then up-front John Aloisi couldn’t even make the starting team which had Mark Viduka and Harry Kewell.
"In the past there was Jimmy Patikas and Oscar Crino - we had so many gifted players. Gold help me they were marvellous players.
“They were all the product of the coaches of the past and now we are just talking about one player?
“Arzani is a talented player but he is not up to the level of Jimmy Patikas or Oscar Crino yet, or some of the other players that we used to have.”
With the Socceroos leaving Russia without a win it means Australia has failed to secure a victory at their two previous World Cup tournaments.
Rasic believes that the country’s skill level needs to get better.
“Our technique has to improve and our players are not playing at the big clubs anymore,” he said.
“Australia fought for everything and was very compact but not good enough for this World Cup
“We have to improve much more. Peru who has not won a game for a long, long time out played us technically and tactically - they out-smarted us totally.
“We depended on the head of Tim Cahill and international football is not about just relying on the head of someone.”
