It's been three weeks since the Olyroos exited the Olympics in the group stage.

Apart from one mandatory press conference with Olympics journalists, after the final match with Ivory Coast, Arnold has stubbornly refused to come out and explain his campaign, his selections and his tactics.

PFA CEO Brendan Schwab said the vow of silence is baffling. "Good coaches usually deal with the media well," he told au.fourfourtwo.com today.

"There has to be clear protocols and a degree of communication with the public. There are a number of ways this silence can be construed," he added.

This week, Arnold is back with the Socceroos in his role as an assistant to national boss Pim Verbeek.

The former Northern Spirit coach is likely to return to Australia following the Uzbekistan World Cup qualifier next week. Arnold has also been linked with North Queensland FC, one of two new A-League franchises for season five kicking off in 2009.

As for the Olyroos' performance, Schwab added: "On the one hand it was a difficult group but also they did well to qualify.

"It's also interesting to compare this side with earlier Olyroo sides of, say, the 90s."
