The Villans have been on a six-game unbeaten run since their 5-0 defeat to Manchester City and talk of discontent regarding Darren Bent has slipped away following Benteke's impressive form.

The Belgium striker scored twice in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday and set up Weimann's goal with a clever back-heel and the young Austrian is delighted with their current form.

"Obviously for myself it is great to play with someone like Christian," Weimann told reporters.

"He wins the ball and holds up and is scoring goals as well.

"You have seen that the last few weeks he has been outstanding for us up front. He is such a physical presence and I am sure if he continues he will be a tough player to face."

Weimann, who has been at Aston Villa since 2007, is also hoping to maintain his place in the first team.

"I obviously want to stay in the team and I feel we've worked well in the last few games. I hope it can be a breakthrough season for me.

"I've played a lot of football lately and that's the first time I've really been doing that regularly with the first team, to get that many games."
