The 2-0 defeat in Champions League Group E, and Lyon's 4-2 victory over Stuttgart, means Rangers now have only a one-point advantage over the third-placed French side.

But Weir insists it would be better to "move on" and look to the next match, rather than dwell on Barcelona's opener in a game the home side dominated and rightly collected three points.

Weir told BBC Sport: "We're disappointed to lose but realistically it's a difficult place to come and we've got to try to take the positives from it."

The Scotland defender revealed Henry admitted to knocking the ball over the line with his hand.

"He said that to me at the time - he said it hit his hand - but that's football," said Weir.

"That's life, these things happen, we move on. You've got to recover from it."

Weir, who at 37 is in his first Champions League group campaign, believes the experience of playing at the Nou Camp will be positive for Rangers.

Rangers still stand a decent chance of reaching the last 16, after taking seven points from their opening four games.

"We haven't been in the Champions League for a little while and it's a learning experience for us, and for a lot of the lads it's the first experience of places like this - as it is for myself," Weir said.

"You've got to learn from it, you've got to enjoy it and you've got to move on.

"We've had a good start to the group. Defeat is never good but we realise the group is over six games.

"We've got a tough game in Stuttgart next, and then at home against Lyon.

"We know if we do our bit we've still got a great chance of qualifying."

Rangers captain Barry Ferguson admits he does not want a place in the UEFA Cup.

That is the minimum Walter Smith's side can achieve in the group now, after bottom side Stuttgart slumped to a fourth successive defeat.

But the third-place finish which would take Rangers into the UEFA Cup is not the prize Smith's men have their eye on.

Ferguson said on club website www.rangers.co.uk: "We were told after the game we are in the UEFA Cup after Christmas because we are going to finish at least third in the group now.

"But we want to stay in the Champions League and we have got two games left to make sure we do that. It is still in our own hands."
