The Nix's 2-1 defeat of Newcastle Jets last week was just the second time in 12 seasons they’ve started the season with a win.

Another victory against Brisbane Roar on Sunday at Suncorp could see more records tumble for the league’s whipping boys.

Captain Andrew Durante is on the cusp of securing his 100th win for the Kiwi outfit while a goal to Roy Krishna will finally see him surpass Paul Ifill as the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 34.

More importantly, if the new-look Nix can jag back-to-back wins it will be the best start to a campaign ever by last season’s 9th place finishers.

“Obviously a good win last weekend at home has given the boys a lot of confidence,” Durante said.

“We’ve analysed Brisbane and we believe we can go over there and get a really good result.

(Rudan’s impact) I think was clear to see on the weekend – the togetherness, united, the boys fighting really hard for each other.

“We want to create history this season and we want to make the fans proud and everyone proud around the club proud.”

Durante feels they can keep the momentum.

“We need to keep it going…make sure it wasn’t just a one off game (and) it won’t be,” he added.

“The boys are organised, disciplined and hungry – we want to get out there and keep climbing that ladder and keep collecting points.

“Mark’s made some brilliant signings – he identified leadership as a real weakness from last season, that we probably needed fixing and (Steven) Taylor, (Filip) Kurto at the back,  Mandi - some real high quality signings - David Williams as well.

"It’s a great change – the boys get on really well and that’s key to having a successful season.”
