Wellington Phoenix has knocked off Melbourne City 4-1 in a pre-season friendly in front of almost 4,000 fans in Townsville on Sunday.
New signing Gui Finkler and Fijian striker Roy Krishna both scored doubles in the shock win against City who started with a strong line-up including guest marquee Tim Cahill.
Cahill opened the scoring after 15 minutes, netting on the half-volley after Josh Rose’s pass.
Wellington, who also boasted a near-full strength starting XI, leveled four minutes later through Krishna after good work from Kosta Barbarouses.
