Wenger saw his side move into third place after a 1-0 victory against already-relegated QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday, with Theo Walcott scoring after just 20 seconds.

The win extends Arsenal's unbeaten run in the Premier League to eight games and Wenger praised his side's defensive display following a spirited performance from QPR.

"I knew the score [of the Tottenham game] but for us it doesn't matter if Tottenham win or draw," the Frenchman said.

"We still have to win the game, we can only focus on what is needed for us which is to win the game, prepare for the next one and win it again. We are highly focused.

"We scored early, started well and after I thought QPR played with quality and pride, they were fearless you could see this team were not playing under pressure and fear like in recent months.

"They made life difficult for us but we had good focus and determination, we lacked a few final balls in the final third. I expected a difficult game and I was not disappointed.

"We knew the points were vital, it was maybe detrimental to our offensive game but defensively we played a very intelligent  game."

The 63-year-old praised the improvement of goalscorer Walcott and feels his team have the momentum as they look to secure a top-four finish.

"It's only his [Walcott's] second game up front, we have to give him time," he added.

"He's 24 now, he's a mature player, he's improved his finishing and ability to resist pressure from opponents. His goal was similar to the one he scored against Manchester United last Sunday.

"We have momentum, you look at the points we've gained compared to two months ago, we're going for it and getting points.

"You look at our away form recently we've won at Fulham, Sunderland, Swansea and QPR. We focused on getting maximum points, we've nearly done that but we dropped two points against Everton and two against Manchester United."
