The Arsenal manager had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw against Blackburn yesterday at Ewood Park.

But it was one more than Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson was able to gain.

The champions went down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City while Liverpool and Chelsea finished all square at 1-1.

Arsenal now host Sven-Goran Eriksson's resurgent City on Saturday - a team that has won all three matches without conceding a goal.

Wenger said: "It looks like it (the league) will be tighter. We have only played two games of course.

"Away from home we are disappointed because we did not win but it is not a bad result to take a point at Blackburn.

"I am confident we will be up there but with whom I don't know."

United have taken two points from three games but Wenger expects their dip in form to be only temporary.

"I still think they will recover and come back," he said. "Three games played is not a lot."

Skipper William Gallas will miss the City match as he will be sidelined for three weeks because of a groin injury.

The defender went down in agony off after hurdling a 24th-minute challenge from Roque Santa Cruz.

He immediately called for assistance from the bench and, a few minutes later, hobbled off to be replaced by Philippe Senderos.

"He has done his groin, I knew it straight away," Wenger told the club's official website, www.arsenal.com.

"He will be out for three weeks."

Wenger was critical of Blackburn's approach, claiming some of the challenges bordered on violence.

But Rovers boss Mark Hughes retorted: "It is a cheap shot.

"He is probably hiding behind these comments as his team has been dominated by a side he possibly thought they would beat.

"He is not being very gracious."
