Mancini is currently facing the toughest time of his brief Eastlands career following the disappointing recent performances and reports of player unrest, with last night's Europa League away defeat to Lech Poznan a third in succession.

Wenger's side inflicted a 3-0 home loss on the 10-man Blues in their Barclays Premier League meeting at the start of that run.

However, the Arsenal boss maintains Mancini must be given time to get it right at big-spending City.

"I have sympathy for every manager who has problems because I know what it is," the Frenchman said.

"But that is where you see the strength of a club to stick with people they know are competent and they know do the right things.

"That is why there are directors at the club and it is down to Manchester City to trust Mancini. Personally I invite them to do that."

Wenger continued: "When you create a new team, you need to have patience because it clicks a bit slower, but Manchester City has a good team.

"They have gone through a difficult patch - three games in a season where you play badly can happen to any manager in the league.

"What has changed when you spend a lot of money is maybe the pressure comes quicker on a manager than if he doesn't spend so much."
