In an interview with free Spanish newspaper Metro, Ramos claimed coaching in England meant more than winning the Champions League or the World Cup.

"Sincerely, the English league has always been my dream and coaching in England is the realisation of that dream," he said.

Ramos then singled out Frenchman Wenger - now his north London rival - as the coach who had most inspired him.

"If I had to pick one coach it would be Wenger," he said.

The former Betis, Espanyol and Malaga coach went on to reveal a little about his management style, stating he prefers to maintain a friendly approach with his players despite having been labelled as something of a disciplinarian in the last few days.

"I maintain a friendship with players in all of the teams I have been in," he said. "I think that's important."

Ramos admitted his role changed in the last two months of his reign at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan following the tragic death of Sevilla full-back Antonio Puerta.

"I had to strengthen my work as a psychologist because Puerta's death was something which marked us all," he said.
