Fabregas has been struggling with fluid on the muscle for much of the season and manager Wenger admitted the injury had begun to take a psychological toll on the 23-year-old.

But Wenger was today confident his star midfielder had fully recovered since Sunday's shock 1-0 defeat to Newcastle and was ready to help get the Gunners' Barclays Premier League title bid back on track at Molineux.

"It has taken a lot out of him mentally and I believe that the fact he came through well against Newcastle, you will see a different player on Wednesday night," Wenger told Arsenal TV Online.

Asked if Fabregas was now clear of the injury, Wenger added: "He is completely clear."

Arsenal need a fit and firing Fabregas as soon as possible judging by their performance on Sunday.

The Gunners blew another chance to close the five-point gap to leaders Chelsea, who lost at Liverpool hours later.

The same occurred back in September when Chelsea went down at Manchester City only for Arsenal to slump to a shock home defeat to West Brom later that afternoon.

Reflecting on Sunday's events, Wenger said: "It is always doubly frustrating because I think we had a good opportunity.

"On the other hand, as well, you could think if they (Chelsea) had won, they would be eight points ahead.

"I expected Chelsea to drop points at Liverpool but I didn't expect us to drop points against Newcastle."

Arsenal have now suffered back-to-back defeats after the Newcastle loss followed a Champions League setback at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Wenger conceded it was "vital" to avoid a hat-trick tomorrow, adding: "Especially against Shakhtar and Newcastle, you feel you have lost two games you should not lose because of your quality.

"So it is important we become efficient again and the confidence remains there."

Arsenal suffered a setback in that aim today when the Football Association rejected Laurent Koscielny's appeal against his red card against Newcastle, meaning the defender will serve a two-match ban starting tomorrow.

There was also bad news for fellow centre-back Thomas Vermaelen, who had been on the verge of making his long-awaited comeback from an Achilles problem but suffered a relapse in training yesterday.

Wenger said: "I don't know where we go with Thomas time-wise but, at the moment, he cannot play.

"On the scan, his Achilles is completely clear but as soon as he stays out for a while, it tightens up and he has pain. We don't know the source of his pain."

Wenger also revealed another long-term absentee, Abou Diaby, faced a test on his injured ankle later this week. "He has a test Wednesday or Thursday," the Gunners boss said.

"If he gets through that, it will be very quick; if he still has pain, he will have to see a specialist."

However, Robin van Persie is approaching full fitness following his cameo against Newcastle after a two-month absence, while Wenger hinted at a start for Andrey Arshavin, who made an impact from the bench on Sunday.

He added: "He has personality, Andrey. He is not scared of anybody or anywhere.

"He is, of course, a player who can make a decision but also a player who gives personality to the team."

Wenger believes Arshavin has now adapted to the demands of English football saying: "He understands that to survive in the Premier League, you have to be much more physical.

"I must say his attitude has been absolutely sensational since the start of the season."

The Gunners boss even compared Arshavin to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, revealing both had a habit of pulling a rabbit out of the hat when otherwise not playing well.

He said: "I had that problem sometimes with Thierry when he had a bad day and all these players that have potential to make a decision."
