Sydney-born Wesolowski, 23, suffered two broken legs and a fractured ankle earlier in his fledgling career, but he's managed a largely injury-free run at new club Peterborough this term.

"With all the injuries I've had in my career, the last two years my main goal has been to stay injury free," Wesolowski told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Wesolowski has managed 24 appearances for Posh in all competitions, although a medial injury interrupted his campaign in late-September through to October.

"This year it was only three weeks I was out for with my medial," he said. "Playing regular games has been fun, I've been missing out on that my whole career.

"Now to be able to be doing that is great and to be on the training pitch everyday is nice rather than sitting behind the glass windows of the physio room."

Wesolowski, who was last called up to the Socceroos squad in 2007 for a friendly against Nigeria, joined third tier Posh from Leicester City after a successful loan stint at Scottish Premier League club Hamilton Academical during the 2009/2010 season.

"I've enjoyed my time here. Obviously it's been six months. I've settled in well, I like the area and get on well with the lads," Wesolowski said.

"My next task is to really push on as there's plenty of competition for places."

Wesolowski was brought to Peterborough by Gary Johnson but he was sacked in January, replaced by the returning Darren Ferguson.

But the former Australia youth international said there's been no issues with the new boss.

"When Darren came in he gave everyone a shot just like any other manager and I've enjoyed playing under him," Wesolowski said.

"Training is sharper, we're working harder and that's paying off in matches."

Eighth-placed Peterborough are next in action away to fifth-placed Charlton Athletic in England's League One on Saturday.
