The 22-year-old Hamilton Academical midfielder had been enjoying his best season with an injury-free run, before a hamstring problem in early January put him on the sidelines.

Wesolowski, who is on loan at Hamilton from English Championship club Leicester City, is now working his way back to fitness and could return this weekend in the Scottish Premier League.

He told the Daily Record: "I'm confident I'll be back to face Hearts and get my season going again.

"I've been here before with this injury and have learned how to deal with it. I've had two acupuncture sessions a week where they stick five needles in my muscles to relax them.

"I feel it's working and I've got a lot to play for this year. I want to help Hamilton climb the table and I'd also love it if I could get into the Australia squad."

Wesolowski's only senior international call-up was way back in November 2007 against Nigeria when Rob Baan was in charge, yet he clearly still holds hope of making the Socceroos World Cup squad.

And he could get another chance to impress when Hamilton travel to the Scottish capital to face Hearts on Sunday.
