CHAMPIONSHIP high-flyers West Ham United have struck a partnership with NSW-based Galaxy Football School to assess the best of the school’s young talent.
The partnership represents an opportunity for Elite Youth Players in NSW to showcase their skills at next year’s annual West Ham Player Identification Camp to be run between 11-13 April 2012 and hosted by Galaxy Football School and West Ham United Academy Staff.
Galaxy Football School is a Youth Football Development Academy for players between the ages of six and sixteen based at Holy Cross College in Ryde. Galaxy aim to nurture and develop elite players in alliance with the national curriculum set out by FFA and promote elite players through the state and national representative bodies.
West Ham have a rich heritage of producing both top young players, including England’s Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick and Joe Cole, alongside having a stream of Aussies at the club over the years, such as Robbie Slater, Stan Lazaridis, Socceroos captain Lucas Neill, while Australian Under 17s international Dylan Tombides is currently at the club.
Erica Matters, parent of two Galaxy Academy players Aiden & Laura, said: “The Galaxy team really nurture the individual talents of all their students, and their recent partnership with West Ham United Academy confirms their dedication and commitment to the long term support of our budding players.”
