Exclusive: Western Sydney Wanderers are interested in bringing Socceroo defender Ryan McGowan to the A-League.
FourFourTwo understands Wanderers coach Josep Gombau is targeting the former Hearts and Dundee United player
Today the club released centre back Robbie Cornthwaite.
It is believed Western Sydney want to bring McGowan back on loan as a replacement for Cornthwaite.
Gombau has already made several changes to his roster as he seeks to implement his distinct playing style.
The 28-year-old McGowan joined UAE Arabian Gulf League side Al-Sharjah.
But he has only made seven appearances for the club.
McGowan is after regular game-time in a bid to make the Socceroos' 2018 World Cup squad.
The centre back has 20 caps for Australia and played in Brazil at the 2014 World Cup.
