Sydney FC have proven why they’re confident of going back-to-back with a dominant 5-0 victory over their rivals Western Sydney Wanderers at ANZ Stadium.
Adrian Mierzejewski produced a quality performance and scored two first half goals in the win. Captain Alex Brosque, Brandon O’Neill, and an own goal to Lachlan Scott completed the rout.
WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS
Vedran Janjetovic (GK) – 6
Did his best to keep out the first, got rounded by Brosque for the second, couldn’t have done much to stop Mierzejewski’s free-kick. Made a number of great saves in the second.
Brendan Hamill – 4
Ineffectual going forward, afforded Sydney too much space on his right flank.

Jonathan Aspropotamitis – 6
Passed well and accurately and was forced into a handful of clearances. Couldn’t do much to prevent Sydney’s attacking barrage. Made a crucial block to deny Bobo in stoppage time.
Robbie Cornthwaite – 4
Looked nervous in the first half, made a few errors at the back. Received a late booking.
Jack Clisby – 3
Got caught out of position many times, and conceded a handful of fouls.
Keanu Baccus – 5
Looked lively in the first half constantly running at the Sydney defence but seemed to run out of steam in the second half.
Roly Bonevacia – 6
Tried his hardest, always ran when he got the ball at his feet and always looked to create something.
Kearyn Baccus – 5
Like his brother, he looked strong and lively in the first half and wasn’t bad in the second but didn’t create much of note.
Josh Risdon – 5
Doesn’t usually play on the wing and failed to create many chances.
Alvaro Cejudo – 5
Had Western Sydney’s best chance with his shot hitting the crossbar after an Andrew Redmayne save.

Lachlan Scott – 2
Only troubled his own goal, heading the ball into his own net after 53 minutes. Was largely anonymous going forward and was substituted shortly after.
SUBS
Brendon Santalab – 5
Replaced Scott early in the second and hit the post from far out.
Jumpei Kusukami – 5
Had an excellent chance to score a consolation late on but put his shot wide.
SYDNEY FC
Andrew Redmayne (GK) – 8
Didn’t have to do much to earn Sydney FC’s 100th clean sheet. However he did superbly to put Cejudo’s strike onto the bar.
Luke Wilkshire – 8
Constantly found himself with plenty of space on the right. Delivered some decent crosses and defended well.

Jordy Buijs – 8
Strong both in the air and with the ball at his feet. Forced to make a few clearances.
Alex Wilkinson – 8
Made a few interceptions, but wasn’t really challenged.
Michael Zullo – 7
It was a relatively easy night for the left back. Had a goal chalked out by the VAR.
Brandon O’Neill – 8
Tackled well. Passed well. Another good performance by the midfielder. Took his goal very well to give Sydney their biggest away win since 2014.
Josh Brillante – 8
Played similarly to O’Neill without getting the goal. Controlled the play.
Alex Brosque – 8
Another solid performance from the captain who netted his first goal of the season after 41 minutes. Should’ve scored a brace.

David Carney – 7
Strong on the ball to create the first goal, and made himself a nuisance for the Wanderers’ defence.
Adrian Mierzejewski – 10
Complete performance from the Pol. Two goals, including a thunderous free-kick. Dictated play up front with his passing, and attracted many fouls.
His only fault was his handball disallowing Zullo’s goal. Quietened down in the second stanza.
Bobo – 7
Uncharacteristically missed a golden chance from in front but the ball he delivered for Brosque’s goal was exquisite.
SUBS
Matt Simon – N/A
Replaced his captain in the final 20 minutes or so.
Anthony Kalik – N/A
Copped a slight knock soon after coming on.
Paulo Retre – N/A
The former Melbourne City man was brought on too late to do anything of note.
