The last time Sydney claimed an A-League trophy was in the 2009/10 season when they won both the Premiers Plate and Grand Final under Czech manager Vítězslav Lavička.

The closest the Sky Blues have come to winning silverware was in the 2014/15 season when they were runners-up in both the Premier’s Plate and Grand Final, and more recently, the 2016 FFA Cup.

If Sydney's record breaking start to the 2016/17 season ends unbeaten they will earn the invincibles tag, but, Ibini is more focused on the next match.

“To be honest we are not really thinking about the undefeated thing,” he said speaking exclusively to FourFourTwo. “We are just taking it game by game I know it sounds clichéd but that is the way we take it. In terms of getting some silverware, obviously everyone is excited but like I said that is still a long way, away too. We just want to continue what we do each week and I think the results will follow if we do that.”

Reflecting on Sydney’s season, Ibini puts the Sky Blues' success down to the team's strength in numbers.

“We’ve got a very good squad," he said. “So it is all down to that and also we work very hard and push each other to our best. I would say that would be the main thing. We’ve got a very strong squad I can say that much, each player has different attributes that can a bring a lot quality to the team.”

The Wanderers's match will be Ibini's 12th successive match.

And after being out for over a year, the 23-year-old is thrilled to have made a significant contribution to Sydney’s season.

“Obviously since I’ve been back on the field I’ve been excited,” he said. “So for me it’s no different to anyone else who has also been injured. I was out for a long time so I think for anyone they would be excited to be back and especially to be scoring goals and stuff like that. I’m enjoying it because we are winning as well and there is no better feeling.”
