After a whirlwind romance which quickly soured, Juande Ramos was sacked by Tottenham on Saturday with the team rock bottom of the Premier League.
PA Sport's Phil Barnett considers potential destinations for the former Sevilla boss.
ATLETICO MADRID
Atletico boss Javier Aguirre has been perilously close to the sack for over a year and after spending a fortune on players, only a strong start in the Champions League has kept the Mexican in a job. Ramos' stock remains high in Spain and he has the profile and track record to strengthen his candidacy should Aguirre finally go.
SEVILLA
Many Sevilla fans still hanker after the highly-decorated Ramos. Despite his successor Manolo Jimenez starting the season well - Sevilla are in the top four in La Liga at the moment - Ramos' double UEFA Cup success and brand of football mean he would be welcome, should president Jose Maria Del Nido ruthlessly axe Jimenez and seize the chance to bring Ramos back.
RACING SANTANDER
Marcelino led lowly Racing to the UEFA Cup last season and, believing his own hype, quit the club for bigger things only to end up with second division side Real Zaragoza. Replacement Juan Ramon Lopez Muniz is under pressure after just one win so far this season and is among the favourites to lose his job in the near future.
PORTSMOUTH
Ramos is a proud man and will not want to return home to Spain as a failure. So while he is still more likely to return to the Iberian Peninsula, the chance to manage a club with more solid foundations and realistic expectations than Tottenham with a strong playing squad could appeal to him.
QPR
Stranger things have happened in football, especially with the Hoops' filthy-rich owners looking for a more glamorous and high-profile manager than the sacked Iain Dowie. Ramos' Continental connections and undoubted prestige could make him a surprise target for Flavio Briatore and Co.
