EXCLUSIVE: Luke Wilkshire won’t have any time to celebrate last night’s victory with a hectic travel schedule that will see him in three different countries over the next 48 hours.
The Socceroo right back leaves Australia today [Thursday] and will arrive in Moscow - where he plays for Russian club Dinamo Moscow - on Friday morning.
After a few hours in Moscow airport, he'll join up with his teammates in the afternoon to fly to the Chechen Republic for his club's clash with FC Terek Grozny on Saturday.
The Russian season has just kicked-off with this clash Dinamo's third of the season.
"It's an interesting one," he said of his travel schedule. "It never stops. That's how it is, that's football."
"But I feel strong. I enjoy coming back playing for the national team. And I'm now looking forward to getting back and getting a good result with Dinamo."
As for last night's win over Uzbekistan, Wilkshire said he felt nerves weren't a factor in the Socceroos lacklustre opening 45 minutes.
He added: "We were a little disappointed, we were a little bit slow, I think everyone said that. But we've come out and picked up the tempo and we opened them up."
The former Middlesbrough player's yellow card from last night's game means he misses the June 6 World Cup qualifier in Doha against Qatar.
"We knew they'd be a threat in that first half and that they'd give it their all and try get a goal," he said. "But we also knew they'd tire.
"We know how difficult such travel can be."
