SOCCEROOS fullback Luke Wilkshire feels like he has let his team-mates down after missing a gilt-edged chance to win the clash with Ghana.

With the game poised at 1-1 in the 71st minute, Wilkshire latched onto a through ball from Scott Chipperfield and was one-on-one with Ghana keeper Richard Kingson. However, his shot was easily parried by the Black Stars' stopper who then saved from Josh Kennedy's follow-up.
A despondent Wilkshire said he felt he had let a chance to re-ignite Australia's World Cup campaign slip.
"I had a big chance, you know, it's very disappointing, you work hard and you wait for these moments and I blew it," he said.
"I'm gutted and disappointed, I feel like in the way, l've missed a big opportunity for the team. That's the most disappointing thing.
"Maybe I thought I had more time than I did and the keeper got in close to me. It's one of them spur of the moment things and unfortunately it didn't quite happen."
While shattered at his own gaffe in a tense affair the result of which sees Australia needing a win in their final group match, Wilkshire backed Australia to do all they could to get through to the next stage.
"As long as there is will there is a way. As long as we are still a fighting chance, we are going to fight to the bitter end, we always do we showed that tonight," he said.
"We want to win. We want to give ourselves a chance, by beating them. That's all we can do. We had our backs against the wall, we had a man sent off after 25 minutes, it was a bit dubious, the spirit and the character of the boys in the team, the togetherness. I think everybody saw that."
If Ghana beat Germany in the other group match, Australia can progress with a win over Serbia. However, a draw or a German win would require Australia to make up big goal difference.
"There's a few different scenarios," said WIlkshire. "It would be great if Ghana can beat the Germans, we have to wait and see.
"All we can do is go out and concentrate on the performance against Serbia and try to win the game as best as we can to give ourselves a fighting chance."
He is confident that even without Craig Moore, who will be suspended for the Serbia match, Australia can put on the required defensive performance to get the win it needs. He also backed the team's unity.
"We know defensively we are better than what we were last week. We showed that tonight, even with ten men again, Not just the back four, I think the whole team," he said.
"You saw the boys out there, you tell me if anybody is apart. I think the performance out there shows everything."
