The 26-year-old, who has spent the last two years in Enschede after arriving from English side Bristol City, had a contract with the Dutch team until 2012.

The 26-year-old, who also played for English club Middlesbrough, agreed to a deal until the end of 2011.

Wilkshire has collected 27 caps with Australia's national side and played 37 matches for Twente, scoring three goals.

He will be the first Australian to play in the Russian league.
