The Perth-born midfielder has 18 months remaining on his current contract and was reportedly subject to a bid from Premier League outfit Bolton in the January transfer window.

Williams has previously gone on record to say he would seek a move away from the Riverside if promotion was not achieved.

“My dream is to get this club up,” Williams previously said.

“If something happens and we don’t go up this season then yeah, I want to have a look around.”

Liverpool, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Bromwich Albion are all monitoring the situation.

But in a move that will surely boost Tony Mowbray and his side, 23 year-old Williams could commit his future to the promotion hopefuls.

“Talks are ongoing between ourselves and the club,” his agent Gary Williams told Sky Sports.
