FourFourTwo’s sources close to Williams have confirmed “he will sign this week”.

The Socceroo managed 16 games for Glory since leaving now Premier League struggler Middlesbrough FC.

He admitted after the elimination final 2-0 win over Melbourne City he was upset and wasn’t given a reason why he didn’t start, coming off for Richard Garcia in the 66th minute.

Williams also did not feature in the 3-0 loss semi-final loss to Sydney FC a fortnight ago, but was on the bench.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a Socceroos call-up in recent times but has had injury problems and was also left out of Glory’s match day squad in the middle of the season.

Victory are set to lose Daniel Georgievski to Newcastle Jets and Fahid Ben Khalfallah whose personal future is uncertain.

Speculation has been ongoing for months on Williams’ future, with Sydney FC, Western Sydney Wanderers, Newcastle Jets and Victory in the mix.

But he will be playing for the Big V next season.

Victory lost the grand final 4-2 on penalties, after finishing 1-1 to archrival Sydney on Sunday.
